Kidnapped Lagos Local council boss released after a reported N20 million ransom payment

The abductors of the Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, (LCDA), Kehinde Oladapo Kolade Bamigbetan have demanded $1 million (about N150 million) as ransom.
The abductors, who got in touch with the wife of the local council boss, said the money must be paid if Mr Bamigbetan is to be released alive. According to the Secretary to the Local Government,  Remi Gbadegesin, the abductors made a call to the wife from Mr Bamigbetan’s phone and demanded the ransom.
The abductors warned Mrs Bamigbetan not to involve the police or play pranks as well as blow the issue out of proportion. They also warned that any attempt to flout their directive could be grievous.
The LCDA chairman was abducted by four gunmen on his way home from an event, after the close of work on Monday night at about 11pm.



Kehinde Bamigbetan, the local government chairman of Ejigbo government area of Lagos has been kidnapped by yet to be identified persons.
Mr. Bamigbetan was kidnapped a few meters to his home last night around 11pm Nigerian time according to a family source. His abductors dropped off one of their victims on the scene of kidnap and drove off with Mr. Bamigbetan. They took all his phones and switched off as soon as they kidnapped him.
