Generator fumes kill man, wife, 3 children in Lagos (Graphic pictures)

Generator fumes kill man, wife, children in Lagos

•Jimoh’s house
A man, his wife, and three children have been killed by generator fumes in the Ipoyewa community, Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
It was learnt that residents discovered the corpses of the victims on Friday in their apartment.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the man, identified simply as Jimoh, with his wife and children had suffocated to death from inhaling the fume of a generator which was found in their room.
When our correspondent visited the area on Saturday, many residents were seen around Jimoh’s house discussing the incident.
It was learnt from them that the late Jimoh, who hailed from Ilorin, Kwara State, came home on Wednesday with a new generator.
A resident, who begged for anonymity, said the new generator had been switched on in the house on Wednesday evening, and left working through the night.
He said, “The family just got the generator. Jimoh had switched it on for his family that evening. I also observed that it worked all through the night. If you check their apartment, it has both the completed and the uncompleted sections. They lived in two rooms which were already completed.
“I think, when they were about to sleep, Jimoh, for the safety of the generator, might have brought it inside their room, because that was where the people met the generator when the door was forced open. Their corpses showed that they had suffocated to death. They are still lying there, you can go and check.”
When our correspondent got to the apartment, it was observed that the bodies of the deceased had yet to be evacuated from the spot.
On how Jimoh and his family were discovered, a landlord in the area, who gave his name simply as Joseph, said a customer to Jimoh’s wife, had visited the family, and had raised the alarm.
He said, “The woman sold drinks. She was to go with Jimoh’s wife to a place on Thursday for market. When the woman didn’t hear from her, she decided to visit her at home. When she got to their apartment on Friday morning, she noticed that their door was locked. She called the phone number, and saw that it rang inside. That was how she peeped through, and saw the dead bodies. Then, she ran out and raised the alarm.”
Another resident, who gave his name as Salau, said that the police from Sagamu Road Division had visited the place, and had gone to fetch an ambulance to evacuate the bodies.
He said, “Nobody could move near the corpses so that we will not be implicated. The landlords have reported to the Sagamu Road Police Division, and they are making plans to get an ambulance to take the bodies away.”
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, the Chairman, Ipoyewa Community Development Association, Mr. John Oluwole, lamented that the area had been without electricity supply for the past three years, adding that residents grappled with other challenges such as potable water and good roads.
He said, “Every house you see in this area uses a generator. The last time we had power supply was over three years ago. We have about 1,200 residents in the area. We have written letters to the government and lodged several complaints all to no avail. This place is under Ikorodu North Local Government Area, but we have been suffering.
“Recently, each household had to contribute about N60,000 to buy a transformer, erect poles and fix the wires. We are doing everything for ourselves. In this area, we don’t have schools, we don’t have good roads, we don’t have health centre. We don’t have anything. Perhaps if there was electricity supply, this disaster would have been averted.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, could not be reached for comments as calls put across to her lines were not responded.

US Funded ISIS Is Coming To Destroy America! Do You Understand?

Published on Sep 5, 2014
While advocating a forceful response to the ISIS threat, Senator Rand Paul called out the President Wednesday, saying that his support for Islamic rebels over the last three years has led directly to the rise of the radical terror group. http://www.infowars.com/rand-paul-oba...
The extreme militant group, ISIS continues to terrorize the Middle East, and threatens Americans, as the militia members have now murdered two American journalists. These terrible acts of violence have “local” law enforcement on standby.

Police in the Indian city of Mumbai are reportedly looking into why a restaurant started using a drone to deliver pizzas without letting them know.

Francesco's Pizzeria says it successfully used a remote-controlled four-rotored drone to send an order to a skyscraper about 1.5km (1 mile) away, the Economic Times reports. In a city that's famous for its snarling traffic jams, the restaurant says drone deliveries could be a green solution that saves on time too. A video the pizzeria put together seems to show footage from one of the test flights.

But the city police now say they're checking whether the restaurant asked permission from the civil aviation authorities. "As per norms, permission must be taken for flying any such object," an air traffic control official says. A local police chief told the told the PTI news agency: "We are very sensitive towards anything that flies in the sky with the help of remote control."

Indian security forces are nervous about the possibility of terror attacks using paragliders or drones, according to sources quoted by IBN Live. But Francesco's insists the experiment was safe. A source told the Economic Times the drone never went higher than 130m (400ft) to avoid interfering with other traffic, and the craft was never out of the reach of the controller. Last year, Amazon said it was testing unmanned drones for deliveries, but said it could take up to five years for the service to actually start.

Treeman: The Cure

36-year old, Dede, from Indonesia is afflicted with a terrible disease that is encasing his body with tree like roots. Thick branch like growths on his hands and feet make him incapable of carrying out even the simplest tasks. He can no longer work, therefore, he cannot provide financially for his 2 teenage children.

The tree like roots on Dede's body grow up to 5cm a year and he has hundreds of smaller growths all over his face and body.

American dermatologist, Dr Gaspari, hears of Dede's story and goes to Indonesia to meet Dede. He finds that Dede suffers from the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), or common warts.

Dede's case is extreme, because he has a low immune deficiency that has allowed the virus to flourish to a massive, deforming infection.

Though Dr. Gaspari offers to try to cure Dede with drug treatments, Indonesian doctors have moved forward with surgeries to remove Dede's warts.

Rock piles become man’s meditative art

Michael Grab spends a few minutes to a few days creating balancing rock formations that last 10 minutes to a few days; shares art on Gravity Glue website

One day, Michael Grab was hanging out with a friend around Boulder Creek in Boulder, Colorado, feeling bored when the friend mentioned some rock piles he had seen. With nothing else to do, they began building their own rock pile creations.
“Before I knew it, we were out there for a few hours,” Grab explained in a video about his newfound hobby. “I had made maybe 10 or 15, and I just felt really good so I kept doing it.”
That was in the summer of 2008, thousands of rock piles ago, or what Grab calls “balances.”

Grab, 29, told GrindTV in an email that he started rock balancing with no goal in mind, but the weekend activity on hot summer afternoons “quickly became a passion.”
“It’s a fun way to relax, release stress, play, create … learn … all while challenging my skills and dabbling with countless possibilities,” Grab explains on his website GravityGlue.com, so named since gravity is the only “glue” that holds these structures in place.
He describes balancing rock piles as meditative art, a life lesson, and a worldwide phenomenon.
The majority of his balances are done in Boulder Creek, but he has made creations in Grundtjarn, Sweden; on the north edge of Loch Ness, Scotland; the north shore of Lake Constance in Kressbronn, Germany; on the Adriatic coast of Italy; and Ottawa, Canada.
“Basically everywhere I go I am looking for possibilities to balance,” he told GrindTV.

They can take anywhere from a minute to a few hours to a few days to complete. “If I’m frustrated, it usually adds time,” he said. “If I’m calm and non-expecting, it usually subtracts time.”
And how long do these creations usually last?
“Usually my more precise balances last anywhere between 10 minutes and days, depending on wind,” he said. “However, if safety is an issue, I always remove them upon leaving the site.”
One of the more difficult balances is the orb, a sphere balanced precipitously on a small perch (photo at top). Grab said he builds those at Woods Quarry, a 30-minute hike from the edge of Boulder. They can take four hours to all day to create.
“It is a one-shot process,” he explained. “If it collapses, I must start all over again from scratch. Much time is taken to precisely form the circular shape in three dimensions while keeping the whole thing balanced.”
Check out more of his creations below. A video at the bottom explains his passion in more detail, and if you’re interested in how to get started, Gravity Glue explains how it’s done.
